Not even the echos of the media can stop this fat riddled burger from breaking sales records. The media release from KFC Canada has boasted about their sales results where KFC restaurants have sold a record 350,000 bun-less sandwiches to our adoring and curious fans.

A very impressive figure by all means for a sandwich that was rumoured to not even make it pass the border. This comes at a great time for KFC Canada whose suffering sales figures have taken a hit so this infusion of Double Down sandwiches across 700 locations nationwide could be the answer.

The Double Down is still at the moment a limited time offer available until November 14th but who knows if the fat laced sandwich is here to stay.

KFC – Media Release

Canada Takes Down the Double Down

While the Double Down love affair is strong across the country, KFC Canada reports that Alberta and Manitoba are Taking Down the most Double Downs in the land — at a slightly higher rate than other provinces.

The legendary, big eat caused worldwide buzz when it debuted in the USA — and it’s the most successful sandwich in KFC history. More than 10 million Double Downs were sold south of the border in less than a month! According to Howe, if you take Canada’s population and the number of restaurants into account, Canadians are on-par with that record.

Renowned as the world’s first-ever bunless sandwich, the KFC Canada Double Down boasts two pieces of deliciously seasoned Original Recipe boneless chicken, two pieces of bacon and processed Pepper Jack cheese — all topped off with the Colonel’s savoury, secret sauce.

“It’s official. Canada has Taken Down the Double Down and we’ve seen people planning Double Down parties with their friends, making videos, blogging and swapping Take Down stories and technique on our Facebook site,” says Howe. “It’s just been phenomenal for KFC, our customers and our franchise partners across the country.”

Never so much has one fast food sandwich cause so much of a commotion with health food nuts and parents going utterly insane with outrageous remarks on how it’s going to kill people and clog all of our arteries…give me a break.

I purposely wanted the hype to die down before actually adding to this social uproar of thi fast food atrocity.

So what makes up this monster of a sandwich exactly?

We have 2 original recipe chicken breasts (nothing crazy yet), crisp bacon (like you have every morning) processed pepper jack cheese (like you have in a lunch deli sandwich),and some KFC sauce (just like we have in most fast food sandwiches). Now ask yourself do you actually eat any of these items on their own? Most of you probably have a combination of two or three a day and don’t even notice it but if you put it all in one sandwich (I’m using that term loosely) everyone goes crazy and wants to burn down the nearest KFC restaurant.

The fact that this sandwich causes so much of a media circus makes me believe that our dear friend Colonel Sanders purposely found the best ingredients to make all crazy with conversations starting like “have you ever heard of the…? or can you believe what they’re doing…?” The fact is that the Double Down is a marketer’s dream with all of us already talking and echoing amongst ourselves before the sandwich even crossed the border!

Now the conversation has turned from “have you heard of this Double Down Sandwich?” to “when are you going to try it?” and most of us will have to try it at least once before the coalition for wrongfully obese children tries to ban KFC for good!

So before you condemn this sandwich to fast food hell think about the last time you ate a Big Mac at McDonald’s because I bet you didn’t know that it has the same amount of calories as the Double Down (540 Calories).

And as a final note we shouldn’t even think about eating at a restaurant named Wendy’s cause they sell something called a “Baconator Double”…and I dare you find out how many calories are in that behemoth.

KFC is introducing their new line of seasoned chicken fillets made of white meat, skinless and boneless. To celebrate the new addition to the colonel’s menu KFC has decided to give them out free on November 1st. All you have to do is be at your nearest KFC between the hours of 2pm and 4pm to receive your free fillet. In the fine print it reads only one fillet per customer. I hope it’s not just one piece.

This is a very interesting new chicken burger from KFC that I thought you guys might get a kick out of. Apparently, KFC has ventured out far from traditional sandwiches to use chicken fillets instead of buns! The Colonial has gone utterly insane.

“It’s such a meaty chicken sandwich, there’s no room for a bun” ~ from a KFC spokesperson.

This “Double Down” sandwich is currently being tested in Omaha, Nebraska and Providence Rhode Island. Early reports are showing the potential damage of this sandwich to be a whopping 1,228 calories!

We’ll see if this sandwich ever makes it across the border and into your neighbourhood KFC.
