Guess who’s giving away FREE buttermilk biscuit sandwiches?  If you haven’t guessed by now we’ll just tell you that McDonald’s will be giving them out February 9 and 10, 2011 during their breakfast hours. This offer will be open to locations in Toronto, and it will be similar to the offer that went on in Ottawa two months ago.

The best thing to do might be to call the McDonald’s location nearest you to see  if they will be participating.

I placed “Participating” in the header because when it comes to promotions by large food conglomerates it’s usually true. I’ve asked around apparently it’s from 7AM to 10AM.

What’s a better way to start off a beautiful Sunday morning than to wake up with some hearty breakfast done right…old fashioned and deliciously tasty pancakes!

Enjoy the last day of the weekend and make it a  scrumptious one.

What you’ll need:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted

What you’ll need to do:

1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar, pour in the milk, egg and melted butter and mix until really smooth.
2. Heat an oiled griddle or frying pan over medium to  high heat. With a ladle scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately a quarter cup for each pancake. Just lightly brown on both sides and serve hot.

Dr. Oz’s personal recipe for his breakfast “Green Drink” to start his mornings off on a healthy note.  You might have to get used to the taste which is like drinking a cold lemony but leafy type soup.  Adding the veggies to the blender does take a long time to mix but it does make you feel refreshed and ready to attack the day!

Ingredients:

2 cups spinach
2 cups cucumber
1 head of celery
1/2 inch or teaspoon ginger root
1 bunch parsley
2 apples
Juice of 1 lime
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Direction:

After everything is combined in a blender, this recipe makes 28 to 30 ounces—about three to four servings. Oprah takes a sip and is pleasantly surprised. “It’s a glass of fresh,” she says.

Photo review by sophiafoots: Ever since I watched that episode of Oprah about staying young, I've been wanting to try this drink. It's REALLY yummy and I highly recommend it. On the plus side, it's healthy! I accidentally left out the celery, oops. And because I wanted to make it a little yummier so I'd like it enough to continue making it, I used an extra apple and the juice of one whole lemon. It really does taste like a glass of fresh!

After an early morning photo shoot, we decided to try out one of the more famous breakfast restaurants – Eggspectation located in Eaton centre.

They have a long menu with a lot of choices. It took me quite a bit time to finally come up with my pick: Breton Benedict – Two eggs poached, two crêpes, ham, gruyere cheese with our classic hollandaise sauce.

and their signature dish Eggspectation – Three egg omelette, with mushrooms, onions, green and red peppers, bacon, sausage, ham… served with grilled potatoes and chef’s fruit garnish.

The Egaabenedict was the best part and it was a prefect marriage with the egg, crêpes, ham and the sauce. The omelette wasn’t as good as we expected specially it is supposed to their signature dish. It lacks the well fix of flavors. The skin of fruit garnish served was very dry. It seems the fruit has been pre-cut for a while. Overall, the food was ok.

Aunties and Uncles is a favourite breakfast/brunch spot for the locals of Little Italy and surrounding sleepy streets that make up the corner of College and Bathurst.  A reasonably priced eatery with good service, modest decor and a quaint atmosphere.  Aunties and Uncles serves up a modest menu of mostly breakfast type foods like toast, eggs, sausages and bacon.  The dining area is pretty tiny and expect line ups on weekends.
