  2. To all you wonderful restaurant workers out there. Do not work at Spring rolls fairview mall. other stores may be ok. The owner and managers do not know what they are doing. Servers will start a shift and you will get sat 10 tables at once because the host staff gets no direction and if you cant handle it then you get in trouble. They overload the staff because they charge staff for any mistakes. I.E. food, drinks etc and if you complain/refuse to pay or bring up the labour laws then you lose shifts till you quit or get fired. They also charge staff for broken dishes without even telling you. The manager puts it in the log and you see it come off your check(extremly illegal). A girl was charged $30.00 for a broken coffee saucer that could not have cost more the a couple bucks but any amount charged is against the law. When a server is cut they give you 30-45 minutes to do the end duties. even if a table stays longer in your section they dont pay for that time. again you are not told they just take hrs off your time without your knowledge. Workers compensation states that any employee working must be signed in, the way they get away with it is they adjust your time after the shift so they know you didnt get hurt.

    • I heard the same story from a friend. His girlfriend used to work for Spring Rolls at Fairview mall. She was laughing so hard when she read this article. She said that it was so true. Even though the food at spring rolls is amazing, the staff are treated poorly and the head manager is a Chinese ass with no manners who acts like a slavemaster. She pointed out the number of things that the waitresses and waiters had to do that no other wait staffs from any other restaurant would under normal and more LEGAL circumstances, but after hearing this, the manager just chose to give her less shifts to the point that she was forced to quit. Someone should tell that manager that his restaurant is run in Canada and that the laws for Asian restrants also apply to his.
